The New Inn occupies the foreground with the quayside and moored sailing ships beyond. Fine, clean condition, free of repairs or restoration, printed on robust heavy grade wove paper, blank verso. Signed in the plate. Approx. 9" x 6.5" (235mm x 165mm) printed area only with good margins beyond. Sir Francis (Frank) Job Short (1857-1945) was a highly respected English etcher and painter originally from Worcestershire but who spent much of his working life in London.Among many prestigious positions in the world of engraving art, he was President of the Royal Society of Painter Etcher & Engravers from 1910 to 1938 and was knighted in 1911.
