Eric Gill wood engraving printed from the original woodblock for Engravings by Eric Gill , published by Douglas Cleverdon, printed by The Fanfare Press, 1929. One of 400 copies printed on paper specially manufactured for this edition. Some very light handling folds in lower margin , outside image, otherwise very good. Not mounted/ matted or framed. Image size 200 x 140mm (7 x 6 inches) Sheet size 253 x 330mm (13 x 10 inches) Reference: Physick 497, Cleverdon 214, (Frontis) 1927. The block was subsequently used as the frontispiece for Engravings by Eric Gill , published by Douglas Cleverdon, printed by The Fanfare Press, 1929; as the frontispiece to the American edition of Social Justice and The Stations of the Cross published by sower Press 1944. There were also 10 proofs signed in an edition of 10. The primarily drawings, dated 22 December 1927 for this portrait is reproduced as Pl.37 of Eric Gill by James Thorpe, 1929.
