Engraving on hand laid paper. Watermark: Coat of arms with a posthorn (= ca. 1630). Description: Source unknown, to be determined. State: Third state of 3. Ref: Blum 1013. Famous portrait of Callot.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Abraham Bosse' after an anonymous artist. Abraham Bosse (French; 1604-1676) worked in Paris and made prints in the manner of Callot. He wrote a very famous treatice about etching and engraving. His prints document French life in the early and mid-17th. Century. Condition: Good, given age. Margins cropped to the image edge. A tiny chip off the left margin (backed with contemporary paper). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
