The Retreat of the British from Concord is a pivotal episode in the early stages of the American Revolutionary War. Following the Battles of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775, where the first shots of the war were fired, British forces found themselves facing intense resistance from colonial militia. As the British troops retraced their steps back to Boston, they encountered continuous harassment from American militias, engaging in guerrilla-style warfare. The persistent attacks during the retreat significantly weakened the British forces and demonstrated the colonists' determination to resist British authority. The events of this retreat marked a turning point, fueling the spirit of rebellion and inspiring further resistance efforts throughout the American colonies.Published by Johnson Fry & Co.
