Item description from seller

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania?: s.i.,1835. Silk broadside (49x18cm) featuring the inaugural address of Pennsylvania Governor Joseph Ritner (1780-1869), an abolitionist and member of the Anti-Masonic Party. Text in two columns and surrounded by a decorative border. Soiling and fraying; About Very Good. Ritner's address touches upon education, currency, and respecting the rule of law and the legislature. The end of Ritner's governorship ended with unrest in late 1838 when the Anti-Masons/Whigs and Democrats both claimed victory in the election for Governor, the conflict leading to the Buckshot War, requiring Federal intervention. We locate three similar broadsides in OCLC though with different dimensions and printers, noneprinted on silk.
