ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR. 220 by 130mm approx. Mounted and ready to frame. Monogram F.E.P. and date on reverse. An attractive Edwardian watercolour. Florence Eleanor Dugdale (neé Paget) 1887-1965. Pupil of Vernon Stokes. Daughter of Alwyn de Blaquiere Valentine Paget (1853-1931) who married Florence Talbot Laing. The artist?s grandfather was Sir James Laing of Etal Manor Northumberland. She painted all her life and was a gifted amateur.Dugdale completed a marvellous series of pictures when travelling in India and Pakistan. She undertook an extensive range of dated Northumbrian skyscapes around 1910 recording the meteorological changes in the sky from day to day. That year she was only 23. Many of her watercolours were completed when she was staying at Etal Manor and a number exist of the village and surrounding area. Her father lived at Woking ,Surrey and a number of watercolours were painted of houses in the locality particularily Camberley. Her work is of a good standard and shows sensitivity and subtlety.
