Tokio Miyashita wood block and etching titled Stream in Spring . Printed on hand-made fibrous japan paper. Printed in colour with gilt. Signed, titled and numbered in pencil by the artist. The sheet does not lie flat due to the nature of the paper and the inking. There is also a soft handling fold in top left corner. Image size 215 x 142mm (8.5 x 5.5 inches) Sheet with image 25.5 x 28cm (10 x 11 inches) This was plate 75, as published in A Tribute to Birgit Skiold , 1983. Tokio Miyashita [Japan 1930-2011] £200 auction price $400 retailBorn in Tokyo in 1930, Tokio Miyashita is considered a master of Japanese post-war printmaking. While he originally studied literature, he devoted his career to printmaking. The student of Japanese woodblock print masters Junichiro Sekino and Un'ichi Hiratsuka, Tokio Miyashita explored many techniques, but favored the woodblock.
