Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743, in Albemarle County, Virginia. His father, Peter Jefferson, was a successful planter and surveyor, and his mother, Jane Randolph Jefferson, came from a prominent Virginia family . Jefferson received an education at the College of William & Mary and studied law in Williamsburg. Political Career: Jefferson played a significant role in American politics.
