Condition: picture slightly yellowish, at the back stronger yellow foxing and seems to have been glued to something else because on all four corners you see leftovers from glue. The following is based on the Daler-Rowney website www.daler-rowney.com: Richard and Thomas Rowney began in business in London in 1783 selling perfumes and wig powder, becoming artists' colourmen at the end of the century, and later developing a lithographic printing business. The company remained in central London until 1969, when it moved to Bracknell; at the same time the last member of the family Tom Rowney, sold the business to Morgan Crucible; in 1983 it was re-sold to the Daler-Board Company becoming Daler-Rowney. Trade card in Heal Collection (Heal,89.135) advertises "Rowney & Forster, Superfine Colour Preparers & Varnish Makers to their Majesties the Prince & Princess of Wales and Principal Artists."
