Unity--Limited Edition Screen Print 5/30, Signed Print measures 10.5 x 12.5 inches. Archivally taped to mat board. Fine Condition. Artist Raymond Yazzie was born in Vanderwagen, New Mexico, about 18 miles south of Gallup in 1959, to Navajo parents who were both silversmiths. The large family of twelve lived in a traditional Navajo hogan. Around the age ten he was sent to work with his older brother Lee at a trading post in Gallup, after his parents divorced. Ray Yazzie apprenticed as a silversmith and today is famous for his intricate stonework. He and his wife own Yazzie's Indian Art in Gallup. Yazzie also enjoy painting and print work. His 1998 painting, "Ascension of the Yeis" was featured on the Gallup Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial poster and his work has been shown at the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, Heard Museum in Phoenix, American Craft Museum in New York and shown at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian George Heye Center in New York City.
