Jared M. Brown

THE PUBLIC FIRST heard of the couple, Jared Brown and Dr Anistatia Miller, in 1995 with the publication of their first drinks book, Shaken Not Stirred®: A Celebration of the Martini. They have been publishing new works on various spirits and cocktail-related subjects ever since, including their latest title, A Most Noble Water: Revisiting the Origins of Gin. Their numerous accolades include the 2021 Helen David Lifetime Achievement Award from the Tales of the Cocktail—the only writers to receive that honour.

Brown is also co-founder and master distiller of Sipsmith Limited. Miller specialises in the early modern history of English brewing and distillation, and consults with a number of international brands on the history and evolution of spirits. The couple also helped revive the technique of throwing drinks.

They are both members of the Worshipful Company of Distillers of London and the Gin Guild and have been individually inducted into the Japanese Gin Association as Gin Grand Guardians.
