Ralph B. Allison, MD was born in 1931 in Manila, P.I, and came to California, USA, at age four. He has lived in California ever since, graduating from Occidental College and UCLA School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatric residency at Stanford University Hospital and is board certified in psychiatry. While in private practice in Santa Cruz, CA, in the 1970s, he met his first "multiple" and then many more like her. He wrote his first book, "Minds In Many Pieces" about his work with dissociators in 1980, with a second edition in 1999. He moved to Davis,CA next, where he met Marie, his most complicated multiple personality patient, treating her from 1978 to 1981. He met her when she was 28 and followed her until she died two years ago at age 60. She is the subject of "Memories of an Essence: How Humans and Spiritual Beings Put 70 Personalities Back Together Again." The part of her mind called the Essence was named Becky, and she was Dr. Allison's primary source of information, being Marie's "memory manager".This was the reason of calling the book "Memories of an Essence." Becky also introduced Dr. Allison to her Supervisors, Faith, Hope & Charity, who defined themselves as angels. But they preferred to be called Celestial Intelligent Energy or CIE. Their job descriptions are in the last chapter, where they describe how they monitor the whole human race. Lessons they taught Dr. Allison are in a third book, "Michael, My Essence". This provides basic details of what they say happens in their universe, which Dr. Allison calls Thoughtspace. Dr. Allison is now retired and living a busy life on California's Central Coast.
