Carol Simpson

Carol Simpson received her Juris Doctor from the Dedman School of Law at the Southern Methodist University after a prestigious career in public education. She holds a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction (Educational Technology) from the East Texas State University (now Texas A&M Commerce), masters degrees in both Library Science (MLS) and Curriculum and Instruction (MA) from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education and French from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.

She began her teaching career as an Art and French teacher at Round Rock High School in Round Rock, Texas and from there found a niche as a Librarian and library administrator in the Mesquite Independent School District. Carol was an associate professor at the University of North Texas College of Information and and adjunct at Texas Women’s University Department of Library Science. Carol has devoted a vast portion of her work on Library and Media Services. She was the editor of multiple magazines for school librarians, and she was the editorial director of the Linworth Publishing (now ABC-CLIO) line of books for school librarians. She is a highly sought after lecturer on all aspects of copyright and technology. She has presented for school districts, curriculum and legal organizations, and library associations across the country.

She now practices law with a firm in Plano, Texas, specializing in school law. She represents school district clients in employment matters, student discipline, real estate, intellectual property, governance, and public records, among other issues.
