Michele Karl

“Wake Me When I Scream,” is Michele Karl’s first novel. Started in 1999 and completed in 2024, the author did plenty of writing in between. Her writing career began after placing 4th out of 9000 entries for a Writer’s Digest Competition, the first competition she had entered.

Since then, she has had six non-fiction books published. Her early writings centered around collecting and celebrities. Her last two books, “Greetings With Love” the Book of Valentines, talks about the history of Valentine’s Day, while, “What Celebrities Collect!” offers in-depth interviews with over 100 celebrities about their collections; John Travolta, Patty Duke, Lea Thompson, Richard Simmons and Lou Ferrigno, to name a few.

Michele has written articles for dozens of national magazines and monthly columns for several collecting publications.

As Co-Publisher of The Herald Newspapers, which she owned along with her husband, Michele wrote nearly a thousand articles covering everything from local news to murder trials over a 20-year period.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Michele lives near Knoxville Tennessee with her husband Joe, a shih tzu named Daisy and a bi-polar cat named Onyx. Her two children Mathew and Angela, live close by.

While her debut novel took years to complete, she believes readers will feel it was worth the wait. It is currently in the editing state.
