With family roots planted deep in early New England history, Barbara Dan is a voracious reader of history. She loves quilting, gardening, oil painting, travel, and at times resorts to prowling around in old graveyards and musty museums for inspiration for her lively historical romance novels.
First published in her teens, Barbara admits to enjoying a variety of life experiences, including working as an actress, night club comedienne, singer-dancer, comedy writer, puppeteer, theatrical producer, screenwriter, publicist, fund-raiser, real estate saleswoman, hands-on builder of houses, escrow officer, co-teacher of couples' communication workshops with her family therapist husband, as well as editor, college professor, and by far her biggest joy and challenge, being mother to four now grown children and grandma to five very lively grandchildren.
Besides degrees in Theatre Arts and Advanced Accounting, she earned her M.A. in Humanities (emphasis: literature) from California State University in 1988. However, she feels that life experience is the most valuable tool any writer can bring to his or her work. A good sense of humor is extremely helpful, too!
She is author of nine historical novels and two contemporary romances, as well as some nonfiction.
