Drew Bacigalupa

Drew Bacigalupa was born in Baltimore MD (1923),lived in Greenwich Village, New York following service European Theater WWII, has been a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico since 1954. He has written since childhood, winning a prize at age 10 in an essay competition for all ages by The Baltimore Sun. Was feature editor of his high school newspaper, won a superior rating in Creative Writing at Biarritz University, post-war France 1945. Has written for Santa Fe newspapers, The Reporter and the New Mexican, where he had a weekly column for four years. Highly traveled, he won the Ligure nel Mondo prize (2002) from the LericiPea poetry competition, Lerici, Italy.

A fourth-generation Italian-American, Bacigalupa and his wife Ellen Williams Bacigalupa (married 1952) own and continue to operate the oldest art studio/gallery on Santa Fe's famed Canyon Road. He has won the Mayor's Excellence in Art designation and honored as a Living Treasure of the city.
