Gary Izzo has spent a lifetime exploring what makes people creative—and how they can become more so.
A former Walt Disney World show director and pioneer of interactive theatre, Gary has built experiences in which imagination, improvisation, and human connection had to work in real time. His career has included directing, writing, producing, and creative consulting for Walt Disney World, Paramount Parks, Busch Entertainment, and Renaissance festivals, along with teaching performers, professionals, leaders, and lifelong learners.
He is the author of Creative Fluency: Tools for the Curious Mind, a practical guide to strengthening perception, imagination, intuition, spontaneity, and the ability to turn ideas into reality. His earlier books, The Art of Play and Acting Interactive Theatre, explore improvisation, interactive performance, and the creative power of play.
Gary’s central belief is simple: creativity is not a rare gift reserved for artists. It is a natural human capacity—and a skill that can be understood, practiced, and strengthened.
Through The Practical Guru, his workshops, articles, and Creative Fluency Lab, Gary helps curious people break out of old thinking, generate better ideas, adapt to change, and unlock their best thinking.
