Coke Newell

Of Scots-Irish and Onötowáʼka (Iroquois) descent, the author was raised in the mountains of Colorado by parents who lived quietly in the woods (though they sang boldly around the campfire), never shot anything (though they hungrily hunted down rocks, plants, and the perfect photo), and carried out (empty) what they had carried in (full). As a youth he read everything in sight, questioned broadly, went to South America, and discovered that God, likewise, lived in the wilderness. Though speaking two languages and possessing two college degrees, he values, utilizes, and trusts most what he has learned from the earth, its processes and creatures. His loves are wilderness, family, and guitar; perhaps not in that order.
