Melvyn R. Werbach

Melvyn R. Werbach, M.D., born in Manhattan in 1940, has been repeatedly listed in Who’s Who in America as well as in American Men and Women of Science. His father, born in Russia, was a victim of the pogroms of 1919. Mel graduated from Columbia College and Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and started in private practice, always mixing his traditional psychiatric practice with integrative approaches to treatment-resistant illnesses. His experiences in integrative medicine led to his first book, Third Line Medicine: Modern Treatment for Persistent Symptoms. Several books on nutritional and botanical medicine followed. For his latest book, Sons of the Lion’s Cub, he reaches back into his father’s family’s distant past.
