Ronna Kabatznick received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology at the City University of New York in 1984. As the psychologist at Weight Watchers International, she helped develop their behavioral weight management program. She is the author of the best selling book, The Zen of Eating: Ancient Answers to Modern Weight Problems. She was also one of the "behind the scenes editors" for The Art of Happiness" by The Dalai Lama and Howard Cutler, M.D. Dr. Kabatznick co-directed a program for psychiatrists and health professionals on mindfulness-based therapies at Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute. She served on the Board of The Center for Mindful Eating and continues to offer teleconference trainings for professionals and the public. She has taught and lectured at various meditation centers and universities throughout the Bay Area. Dr. Kabatznick is also on the chaplaincy council at Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City. She has practiced meditation extensively, including in Thailand, under the guidance of two of the country's foremost meditation masters, Ajahn Anan and Ajahn Ganha.
Dr. Kabatznick has a private practice and specializes in helping clients with eating, depression and relationship challenges. She lives in Berkeley, California with her husband, Peter Dale Scott.
