Teja Arboleda

Teja Arboleda has been multiracial since birth. Since conception, he has refused to fit into any box, and has spent much of his life as a divergent and creative thinker, creator and advocate.

Arboleda is African-American, Native-American, Filipino-Chinese and German, and grew up in Japan. There’s probably more but he thinks that would just make the Census Bureau implode.

Teja is the president of Entertaining Diversity, Inc. which focuses on diversity and inclusion training through entertainment and comedy. He has performed over 1,300 shows in 48 states, since 1993. He is also Senior Consultant at IBIS Consulting Group.

Arboleda has produced and edited over 140 documentaries for PBS and Discovery, and won an EMMY award in 1993 and five Telly Awards (2009, 2013, 2017 and 2018). His PBS documentaries, such as Crossing The Line: Multiracial Comedians, and Model Minority: Do The Math, have stirred considerable discussions on identity, race and culture in the news including The NY Times, LA Times, USA Today and National Public Radio and PBS. His Discovery Education series Diversity Elementary has been a big success in many countries.

Arboleda has a Masters in Education, and as professor, teaches courses on race and ethnic relations, communications and filmmaking. He is the author and illustrator of books on multiracial and multicultural identity, including In The Shadow of Race, Mixed Feelings and Jeni So Many, and his educational videos can be found on his company’s website, EntertainingDiversity.com.

Teja lives just south of Boston with his wife and daughter and two four-legged non-humans.
