Don Heider

Don Heider is a teacher, author, researcher and award-winning broadcast news journalist. Heider spent ten years working in TV news as a photographer, reporter, producer and manager. He currently serves as Founding Dean and Professor at the School of Communication at Loyola University Chicago.

He is the founder of the Center for Digital Ethics and Policy, and he has a new edited book coming out on digital ethics, his fifth book.

Heider earned his B.A, from Colorado State University, his M.A. from American University and his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado. He taught previously at the University of Texas at Austin, American University, Ole Miss, and the University of Colorado.

During his career Heider received five Emmy awards, a regional Edward R. Murrow, and a Tennessee Associated Press Award. Heider was honored at the University of Texas with two teaching awards: the Eyes of Texas Award and the Texas Blazers Award, and previously Heider received the Outstanding Faculty Member Award while at Ole Miss. He was also selected as an Ethics Fellow at the Poynter Institute.
