Ken Bloom

Ken is a Grammy Award-winning authority on American popular song and musical theatre. As a co-founder of Harbinger Records, Ken has produced over fifty albums including such artists as Peggy Lee, Maxine Sullivan (Grammy nomination) and songwriters including Harold Arlen, Bock and Harnick, Cy Coleman, Jones and Schmidt, Kander and Ebb, Hugh Martin, and Charles Strouse. He and Richard Carlin won the Grammy Award for Best Album Notes for their album Shuffle Along. He has produced and directed shows in in New York, Paris, San Francisco and Washington D.C.. He has written sixteen books on Broadway, Hollywood, popular songs, sitcoms, theatre anecdotes and most recently co-authored with Carlin, Eubie Blake: Rags, Rhythm and Race. Ken's books have won the George Freedley Award, New York Times' top reference book of the year, Choice Magazine Award and have sold over 100,000 copies. On radio he was an arts reporter for NPR's All Things Considered and Morning Edition. He also broadcast on the CBC and Serius as well as fifteen years on WKCR.
