I have worked in African archaeology for almost 50 years, living for extensive periods in Malawi, Botswana and the Republic of Congo. I have written three books (2 on Botswana and 1 on Central Africa) and over 60 articles and book chapters on African Archaeology.
For the book The Archaeology and Ethnography of Central Africa, which includes both archaeology and a description of the social and political context of the excavations, there is also a brief video blog that accompanied an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibit on Kongo Art in December 2015. The blog can be found at: http://www.metmuseum.org/exhibitions/listings/2015/kongo/blog/posts/loango-archaeological-project
