I am a British philosopher based in Istanbul since 1997. I joined the Department of Philosophy at Boğaziçi (Bosphorus) University at the beginning of 2023. I have been working on Continental European philosophy since Kant with reference to philosophy and literature continually, going back to my student years. I have a degree in Philosophy from the University of Warwick, an MA in Philosophy and Literature from Warwick, and a doctorate on 'Law and Form: Joyce, Beckett and Philosophy from the University of Sussex. In my earlier years of publishing, I did sine work on Continental and Analytic philosophy, particularly with reference to Wittgenstein. Since then I have developed projects in political philosophy and ethics, as well as carrying on my interests in philosophy and literature and ethics. I have published and edited books on Kierkegaard, Nietzsche and Derrida. Currently I am focused on Foucault. I have some interests in history of philosophy before Kant, particularly with a poetic, aesthetic, literary aspect as in Montaigne, Pascal, Vico and Shaftesbury. I have published on the novel as a literary form and I am now focused on tragedy as a literary form, as well as an attitude to life and a theme in philosophy
