David O. Stowell

David O. Stowell (1954- ) was born in Rochester, New York to middle-class parents. After some years of skydiving, studying political science and riding motorcycles, David earned his B.A. from the University of South Carolina. He earned his doctorate in history from SUNY, University of Buffalo. Following twelve years of teaching at Keene State College in Keene, NH, he gave up tenure and left academia to pursue a career in the American labor movement. Subsequently, Dr. Stowell was a union representative for a SEIU local in upstate New York (2007-2011). Dr. Stowell is not currently affiliated with any institution.
