Robert H. Phillips

Robert H. Phillips, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist and founder/director of the Center for Coping on Long Island, New York. For more than fifty years, he has devoted his career to helping individuals and families manage the emotional, medical, and practical challenges associated with chronic illness. Through counseling, writing, speaking, and media appearances, he has made complex psychological principles accessible and useful for everyday life.

He is the author of Living Well After Diagnosis, his newest guide offering practical coping and adaptation strategies for people dealing with the aftermath of a diagnosis of a chronic illness. He is also the author of Coping with Lupus, an international best-seller now in its fourth edition, which has helped countless readers worldwide manage the emotional and practical challenges of living with lupus, as well as a number of other books designed to help people cope more effectively with chronic illnesses of all kinds.

In addition to his writing, Dr. Phillips has presented more than 500 lectures and workshops across the United States and abroad and has served on numerous medical advisory boards. He also hosts Coping Conversations, a long-running interview show and podcast featuring experts and well-known guests who share insights on resilience, creativity, and living life to the fullest.

A common theme throughout his more than 40 books, Dr. Phillips blends psychological insight with compassionate, real-world strategies to help people improve the quality of their lives, no matter what problems they may face.
