Josh Russell's most recent book, King of the Animals: Stories (LSU Press), was longlisted for the Story Prize. His novels are Yellow Jack (W.W. Norton), finalist for the Barnes & Noble Discover Prize, My Bright Midnight (LSU Press), which earned him a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Prose, and A True History (Dzanc Books), finalist for the Townsend Prize. Counting the Days, his novella, is forthcoming in 2027 from Regal House Publishing. A native Illinoisan, he now lives in Decatur, Georgia and is Distinguished University Professor at Georgia State University.
