I am Terry White. I spent my earlier years as a geologist and a mountaineer. Those are jobs where you quickly learn the difference between a solid ledge and one that is about to give way.
I’ve written four business books about how large companies are run, but I eventually realized that a story is a better tool for showing how the world is actually failing. The Halsbrook Report is my first thriller. It was inspired by my late friend, a Nobel Laureate in climate science. He saw the math of what was coming long before the rest of us.
I write about the moment things stop working. I’m interested in the exact point where a system—whether it’s the environment, a school, or a massive online store—fails the people who rely on it.
I live in South Africa, a place where you can't ignore the gaps in the world. I write to entertain; if the story doesn't grab you, the rest is just talk. But if you stay for the ride, you might find a new set of directions for where we go from here
