Dennis Hamley

Dennis Hamley was born in Kent in 1935. In 1941 his family moved to Winslow, Bucks. Her was educated at the Royal Latin School, Buckingham, and after two years in the RAF he went to Jesus College, Cambridge, to read English. He trained as a teacher at Bristol University and taught in schools, trained teachers, became County English Adviser for Hertfordshire and took early retirement in 1992 to write full-time.

His first book was published in 1963. He has written eighty books -- novels and short stories for all ages.. His latest novel, for adults, is The Second Person from Porlock, published by Fairlight Books in 2021.

His son is a scientist, his daughter works in publishing, He has five grandchildren. He now lives in Oxford with his second wife..
