Dr. Rick Smith, Ph.D., CISSP, is a writer, educator, and consultant, mostly retired at this point. He teaches occasionally for the MSSE program at the University of Minnesota, which also offers his Cloud Security specialization on Coursera.
Early his career, Dr. Smith developed software for pioneering systems for speech recognition, computer networking (the ARPANET), and network security. Then he served as a consultant and educator.
Dr. Smith earned a BS in engineering from Boston University, and an MS and PhD in computer science from the University of Minnesota. He is also a senior member of the ACM and the IEEE.
