John Goodman was one of the first National Merit Scholars, an award that enabled him to attend Swarthmore College. There he majored in Physics with minors in Math and Chemistry. Upon graduation he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa & Sigma Xi honorary fraternities and received his B.A. with High Honors. Dr. Goodman received his Ph.D. in Experimental Physics (with minors in Theoretical Physics and the History of Science & Technology) from Cornell University where he was both a Danforth Fellow and a National Science Foundation Fellow.
He has been a consultant to Scientific American magazine, founded an interactive science museum, and taught at Harvey Mudd College, California Institute of the Arts, among others. Previously he wrote seven books explaining how personal computers actually work. Now, after a decade of research I've realized how we might best address the most pressing problem we face: our imminent extinction.
