Emily Sohn

Emily is an award-winning freelance journalist in Minneapolis. The 2025 recipient of the Sharon Begley Award for Science Reporting and the Kovler Prize for Trust in Life Sciences, she has written for National Geographic, the New York Times, Outside, the Washington Post, Scientific American, Nature, bioGraphic, Popular Mechanics and many other publications. Her story, "The Catch," for Long Lead, won a Webby and a Newhouse School Mirror Award, and was published in the 2024 Year's Best Sports Writing anthology. Her book "The Persistence of Wild Things: How Life Finds a way in the Most Unexpected Places" is scheduled for publication in 2027.
