Steve Carper

Steve Carper is a Future Historian, researching how the dazzling capital “F” Future that dominated Golden Age science fiction was created starting in the technological frenzy of the late 19th century, a melding of images in popular media and the promise of a coming technological utopia hyped through newspapers, magazines, and books. Three chapter-length ebooks are available as part of his History of the Future Series. His website, FlyingCarsandFoodPills.com, contains more than 150 articles about, yes, flying cars and food pills, and also robots and rockets and rays and more. The robot section of that website spawned the first comprehensive book on robots, Robots In American Popular Culture, and its companion website RobotsInAmericanPopularCulture.com. Both sites publish new articles regularly and also reprint his biweekly robot column at BlackGate.com. In addition, he writes his own science fiction, collected in a short story collection called Tyrannosaur Faire.
