Katrina Roberts

Katrina Roberts's first book of poems, How Late Desire Looks, won the Peregrine Smith Prize. The Quick, her second book, was chosen by Linda Bierds for the Pacific Northwest Poetry Series (University of Washington Press) and was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award. Her third book, Friendly Fire, selected by Robin Becker as the winner of the Idaho Prize for Poetry 2007 and released by Lost Horse Press in the spring of 2008, was also a finalist for the Washington State Book Award (2009). Her fourth book, Underdog, appeared in 2011 from the University of Washington Press and was also a finalist for the Washington State Book Award. She edited the anthology: Because You Asked: A book of Answers on the Art & Craft of the Writing Life, Lost Horse Press, 2015. Lace was winner of the 2019 Floating Bridge Press Chapbook Award. LIKENESS, a full-color book of poems, appears at the tail end of 2022, and is also available directly through Finishing Line Press.

Roberts's work has appeared in anthologies such as Best American Poetry; The Pushcart Book of Poetry: The Best Poems from the First 30 Years of the Pushcart Prize; and Short Takes: Brief Encounters with Contemporary Nonfiction. Currently she is the Mina Schwabacher Professor in the Humanities at Whitman College, where she also directs The Visiting Writers Reading Series. She and her husband are the founders and proprietors of Tytonidae Cellars and the Walla Walla Distilling Company, in Walla Walla, Washington, where they live with their three small children.
