I am a Clinical-Community Psychologist and Professor of Psychology at the University of Connecticut. I have dedicated my career to preventing the spread of HIV and improving the health of people living with HIV/AIDS. My research program is focused in the southeastern United States and South Africa. I am also the Editor of AIDS and Behavior, a leading social and behavioral science peer-reviewed journal published by Springer Nature. My latest book is the second edition of Denying AIDS: Conspiracy Theories and Pseudoscience in a Post-COVID World. While the first edition of Denying AIDS was focused on AIDS denialism, the second edition reflects where we are today -- A melding of AIDS and COVID denialism with the anti-vaccine movement as it is personified by the US Secretary of Health and Human Services.
