Robin M. LeBlanc

Robin M. LeBlanc is a political anthropologist who studies Italian and Japanese politics from the perspective of ordinary citizens by joining in the activities and daily lives of her research subjects. Through informal conversations and formal interviews in public gardens, neighborhood associations, squatter communities, election campaign cars, and many other sites of community life, LeBlanc writes about how citizens struggle to make sense of the limits and possibilities of democracy. LeBlanc grew up mostly in East Tennessee. She majored in English at Berry College in Rome, Georgia before getting her doctorate in political science from the University of Oklahoma. William Lyne William Lyne Wilson Professor at Washington and Lee University, LeBlanc teaches courses in urban politics, global politics, and gender and politics.
