Ellen Birx

Ellen Birx is a Roshi (Zen master) in the White Plum lineage and co-founder of New River Zen Community (newriverzen.org) in Blacksburg, VA. She holds a PhD in psychiatric nursing from the University of Texas at Austin and is professor emerita at Radford University in Radford, VA. She is the author of Healing Zen (Viking Compass, 2002), Waking Up Together (Wisdom, 2005), Selfless Love (Wisdom, 2014), and Embracing the Inconceivable (Orbis, 2020).
