Dennis B. Klein

Dennis B. Klein founded the Anti-Defamation League's Center for Holocaust Studies. It was effectively a nine-year leave of absence from a 30-year career in higher education, and counting, where he took on the leadership of Kean University's Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Studies, one of three such programs in the United States. His scholarship interrogates several presumptions in the field, including the notions that prevention and lessons propel the study of genocide or that reconciliation is the primary trajectory in genocide's aftermath. He lectures widely, and has presented his work across the US and overseas in Cape Town; Jerusalem; Kent; London; New Delhi (by Skype); Poznan; Tel Aviv; and Wenzhou, China (by Skype). He received appointments from Oxford University, Harvard University, CUNY Graduate School, and Columbia University as a Visiting Scholar.
