He, Mike Sexton, and Jim McManus were the speakers at a seminar sponsored by the Global Poker Strategy Thinking Society at Harvard Law School.
He was an expert witness about poker psychology in an administrative hearing, and his testimony was stipulated in a subsequent lawsuit.
He played online poker as a member of Royal Vegas Poker’s team of experts.

He’s a two-time Jeopardy champion.
He wrote and/or played the leading role in four video series. Two were part of multi-media training programs, Selling: The Psychological Approach and Negotiate To Win. The other two, Management by Objectives and Career Development, were produced and used by Mobil Oil Corporation and its subsidiary, Montgomery Ward. At one time Selling: The Psychological Approach was the world’s best-selling non-technical, computer-based course for business people.
His Ph.D. is in industrial psychology. He served on the faculties of UCLA and Carnegie-Mellon University and was a research fellow at The Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, the world’s oldest Catholic University.
He was Manager of Management Development at Merrill Lynch and then started a consulting company, Schoonmaker and Associates. He personally taught or consulted in twenty-eight countries on all six continents for clients such as GE, GM, IBM, Mobil, Sun Life of Canada, Bankers Trust, Wells Fargo, Manufacturers Hanover, Chemical Bank, Chase Manhattan, Rank Xerox, and more than two dozen others. His personal clients’ annual sales exceed two trillion dollars.
