Michael McCall

Michael McCall is an artist who works in various mediums, from painting, photography, video, sculpture, to conceptualism. He currently lives in the Mojave Desert near Joshua Tree, California where he keeps a large studio. Additionally, he is an exhibition curator, working for the Yucca Valley Visual & Performing Arts Center where he designs and curates large exhibitions.

His memoir, Captain Squid & the Tentacle Room, is an honest and genuine depiction of his life as an artist. The quote on the back cover says it all... Michael McCall became an artist in first grade...and maybe even before that. For over half a century he has been involved professionally and other wise making art, exhibiting other artist’s work, running a speak-easy, and practicing a kind of disobedience and chicanery, while breaking the rules. He is the founder of a new art movement, Neo-Nitwitism, or so he says.
