A. D. M. (David) Walker is Professor Emeritus in Physics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. He was for many years Professor and Head of the Department of Physics at the University of Natal and served as Dean of the Faculty of Science. He is the author of numerous papers in radio propagation theory, magnetosphere physics, geomagnetic pulsations and magnetohydrodynamic waves, published over a career of more than fifty years.
His most recent interest is in South African History leading to his book "Pawns in a Larger Game", a study of how the lives of a number of his forebears were intertwined with the history of the Cape Colony in the nineteenth century.
He now lives with his wife in Durban, South Africa, and divides his time between research in space physics, investigating his roots in the Eastern Cape Province, and visiting his grandchildren in Glasgow, Cape Town, and New York.
