Len Bailey (1955-) was born in Huntington, West Virginia, to a coal camp-raised father and an Arkansan mother. He has lived in West Virginia, Kentucky, Kansas, Arizona, Oklahoma, and now resides in the Chicago area. His first book, "Clabbernappers" (Tor Books/Macmillan) is a chess/cowboy fantasy, the cover illustrated by Brett Helquist of Lemony Snicket fame. The sequel, "Fantasms" came out a year later. Bailey's third book chronicles adventurous forays by Holmes and Watson into the Biblical past entitled, "Sherlock Holmes and the Needle's Eye" (Thomas Nelson/HarperCollins).
