Laura E. Ruberto

Laura E. Ruberto is a Humanities professor at Berkeley City College, where she teaches courses in film studies and cultural studies. She writes and publishes on film, material culture, oral histories, and vernacular culture within Italian diaspora and transnational contexts. She also publishes as an Italian-English translator and on occasion as a creative writer.

She is a Mellon/ACLS Faculty Fellow (2020) and a Fulbright Scholar (2006). Her work has been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and by a Lola Homsher Award.

She is one of two editors of the Fordham University Press series Critical Studies in Italian Migrations and serves on the board of the Italian American Review and California Italian Studies.

In addition to these books she has published a number of academic journal articles, book chapters, and online essays.
