William Earl Maxwell

William Earl Maxwell was born in 1935 in Lovelady, Tx. He grew up on a cattle ranch and cotton farm in the heart of East Texas. Upon graduating high school, he did his undergraduate and graduate work at Sam Houston State University. He served the United States Army in the 49th Armored Division where he commanded a tank platoon. He is a professor emeritus at San Antonio College, where he taught courses in U.S. and Texas Government. Maxwell co-authored Understanding Texas Politics in 1975, his first text on Texas Government.
