Robert Owen

Robert Owen has been keeping bees for over twenty years, after being introduced to beekeeping by a work colleague. When Robert retired, he studied for a PhD in diseases of the honey bee at University of Melbourne, Australia, receiving the degree in 2022. In addition to writing The Australian Beekeeping Manual, Robert has written extensively for magazines such as The American Bee Journal, The Australasian Beekeeper, Bee World, and Bee Culture, as well as publishing many other articles on science and travel. Robert works extensively overseas as a volunteer with aid agencies, teaching beekeeping in Nigeria, Benin, Lebanon, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Robert's next book, Pests and Diseases of the Honey Bee, joint written with JP Scheerlinck and Mark Stevenson, will be published in 2023.
