Keith Wilson

Keith Wilson is a writer, picture editor and journalist. He is the co-founder (with Britta Jaschinski) of Photographers Against Wildlife Crime, and the editor or author of numerous photo books which have been awarded by Pictures of the Year International, Independent Publisher Book Awards, Prix de la Photographie Paris, and the IPA Lucie Awards. Recent titles include The Evidence Project, HIDDEN: Animals in the Anthropocene, FOX: Neighbour Villain Icon and three editions of Photographers Against Wildlife Crime.

Keith began his journalism as a newspaper reporter in Australia and moved to London in the 1980s, taking the scenic route via Hong Kong, the Himalayas, India and the Soviet Union. In 1989, he became the youngest ever editor of the weekly photo magazine, Amateur Photographer, a role which he fulfilled for nearly ten years. He then launched Outdoor Photography magazine, serving as editor from 2000 to 2007, Black+White Photography and Wild Planet.

He has interviewed many of the world’s leading photographers, including Sebastiâo Salgado, Jim Brandenburg, Nick Brandt, Brent Stirton, Ami Vitale, Alex Webb, Stephen Shore, Christian Ziegler, Jo-Anne McArthur, Steve McCurry and Frans Lanting, for British and European magazines. As a lecturer and presenter, Keith has been a speaker at the Natural History Museum, London; Royal Geographical Society, London; Visa Pour L’Image, Perpignan; the German Society of Nature Photographers, Lünen, and other photo festivals in France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Norway. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and regular guest lecturer at the University of Nottingham’s School of Life Sciences.
