Antonia Bifulco

Antonia Bifulco is Emerita Professor of Lifespan Psychology at Middlesex University London. Before retirement she was director of the Centre for Abuse and Trauma studies. Having graduated from Exeter University she undertook her PhD at Bedford College, University of London from where she joined the internationally acclaimed research team headed by Prof George Brown. She has researched extensively into the causes and consequences of childhood trauma and clinical disorder with research funding from the MRC, ESRC and EU.

Antonia's research is widely published in research journals, and her books add to both academic and practitioner (clinicians and social worker) readership. Her books cover child abuse, attachment and life events and stress providing extensive research review, her own research and lessons for practice. All include extensive case study from the thousands of interviews collected.

In one recent publication (Identity, Attachment and Resilience: Exploring three generations of a Polish family), she uses lessons learned from her research to examine her own family background, going back three generations in Poland, for a wider readership.
