Andrew Milner

Andrew Milner is Professor Emeritus of English and Comparative Literature at Monash University in Melbourne. He was Honorary Professor of English and Comparative Literary Studies at the University of Warwick from 2014 until 2019 and Ludwig Hirschfeld-Mack Visiting Professor in the Institut für Englische Philologie at the Freie Universität Berlin during 2013.

He was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, in 1950 and was educated at Batley Grammar School and later at the London School of Economics (LSE), where he graduated with a Ph.D. in the Sociology of Literature in 1977. He has taught in Sociology at the LSE and at Goldsmiths College, London; in Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds; and in the Centre for Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies at Monash University, where he was appointed to a chair in 2000.

He is a member of the Australian Greens.
