Robert McGill is the author of the novels The Mysteries, Once We Had a Country, and A Suitable Companion for the End of Your Life, as well as of the short fiction collection Simple Creatures. He has published two nonfiction books, The Treacherous Imagination: Intimacy, Ethics, and Autobiographical Fiction, and War Is Here: The Vietnam War and Canadian Literature. His short stories have appeared in The Atlantic, The Dublin Review, and Hazlitt, among others. He teaches Creative Writing at the University of Toronto.
